Which sources the site uses

The editorial team takes every number, standard clause, price, date and court reference from a document that the editorial team fetched and read before writing, and prefers primary sources in this order: the text of the standard or law, a government or court publication, an official statistics office, a trade association's annual figures, and a dated price guide from a named company. Examples on the site are the text of DIN 5034-1:2021-08, the press releases of the Bundesgerichtshof (BGH, the federal court of justice), the Baupreisindex of the Statistisches Bundesamt (Destatis) and the annual press conference of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Die Moderne Küche (AMK).

Secondary sources such as contractor price tables or tenants' association guides are used only when a primary document does not publish the figure, and the article names the company or association and the year of the figure in the sentence. Figures that cannot be sourced are left out of the article.

How an article is written

Each article answers one question stated in the title, opens every section with a direct declarative answer, states the entity, the value and the condition in the same sentence, and repeats the key figures in a short FAQ so that each answer can stand alone. The editorial team writes in British English, introduces German terms in parentheses on first use and avoids marketing language, superlatives without a named source and vague quantities such as "much cheaper".

Figures are set out in data tables, and every one links out to the exact source page it was read from rather than to a summary of it. Articles are dated, and an updated date is added when a figure changes.

How corrections are handled

A correction request that names the article, the sentence and a source with the newer value is checked against that source within three working days, and a confirmed error is corrected in the text with the updated date changed in the article header. A figure that has been superseded by a newer edition of a standard, a newer court decision or a newer price survey is replaced in the same way, with the year of the new figure stated in the sentence. Independence

The site publishes no paid articles, no sponsored links, no affiliate links and no advertising, and no company, association or authority named in an article has paid for the mention or reviewed the text before publication. The site names manufacturers, contractors and price-guide publishers only as sources of figures, and naming them is not a recommendation.
